There's more bad news for RIM. They lost nearly $200 million last quarter, and the worse news is that they are letting 5,000 employees go, on top of the 2,000 cuts that have been previously announced. And the even worse news is that BB10 Operation System, has been pushed back until next year. Any hope for relevance has now gone down the drain.
The only chance RIM had at surviving as a standalone company was for BB10 - which was viewed as relatively positive if not revolutionary to lead to a Blackberry renaissance. Now that its been pushed back to end of 2013, its disastrous. Can they survive any longer?
Cutting a total of 7,000 jobs in the last two months, and add in the net income losses in the hundreds of millions, this has struck RIM with a bad taste in the mouth, and the wallet.
So what's going to happen now? Hopefully, there will be a plan of action during the company's conference call at 5pm EST. Sounds to me like they'll have no choice but to sell.
