China's Shenzhou 9 spacecraft has successfully docked with the Tiangong 1 (Heavenly Palace), in its unmmaned test module in Earth orbit. Three Chinese astronauts (taikonauts) entered the module making China the third country on Earth to perform a manned docking in space.

Now that the Taikonauts are safe inside the module, they will be able to do some exploring. China's long term goal is to construct a permanent manned station by 2020 or so, though it's not going to be as big as the ISS, seeing the ISS won't be around anymore by the end of the decade.

The taikonauts are scheduled to spend 13 days in orbit, returning to Earth late next week.
