Just when you thought maps couldn't get any more updated. Now, Google has casually mentioned that it uses a fleet of airplanes to repeatedly fly over cities, shooting photos at a 45 degree angle and from directly overhead.
The data collected from the planes is combined with satellite imagery to make the 3D models, and some of the planes are owned by Google, and the rest are under an exclusive contract.
