Sir Isaac Newton's mathematical problem that we had 300 years ago was solved by an India born 16 year old boy. Shouryya Ray (who now lives in Germany) is the boy's name, and he figured out how to calculate the path of a projectile under gravity and subject to air resistance.
Shouryya can calculate the flight path of a tennis ball and predict how it will bounce off a wall, something that was only possible through computers before now. He did it while working on a school project. Math prodigy alert!
"When it was explained to us that the problems had no solutions, I thought to myself, 'well, there's no harm in trying,'" he said.
There was no information released on the formula or solution that he used to solve the problem.
