Google released a report today showing how many links they rip down from its searches in a month because of copyright complaints. The number? 1.2 million a month! That comes from 1,000 copyright owners who've targeted 25,000 web sites.
According to Google, "these days it's not unusual for us to receive more than 250,000 requests each week, which is more than what copyright owners asked us to remove in all of 2009." The most frequent reporting organizations range from Marketly llc and NBC Universal, the most popular copyright owners are Microsoft and NBC Universal and the top targeted web sites come from filestube.com and torrentz.eu.
