Oscar de la Renta released a range of affordably priced accessories and fragrance products through its Facebook shop. Now the brand is testing social media users' appetites for more of their expensive range. The company made their sequined baseball tee for $2,490 on the website of Pinterest rival The Fancy.
The Fancy is relatively young, the site was launched last year and has around 750,000 registered users. It has yet to move high end merchandise in any significant quantities and the initiative seems more a publicity ploy than a genuine sales effort.
But still, a high end brand's willingness to experiment with digital is surely an impressive feat. After all, we're the next generation target market for these brands/
What do you think of their sales efforts? Will it work? And how would you respond, assuming you have the means to buy the kinds of merchandise they put up.
