Google unveiled their preliminary designs for a short concept piece to showcase Project Glass, its augmented reality initiative to create smart shades. AR technology is not new. There are some smartphone apps that are already showing us its potential.

But Project Glass takes the whole AR a step up. The voice activated glasses can make voice and video calls, and can check in to places and share photos to social networks and get real time mapping, tell you the weather and remind you of appointments and more. I wouldn't mind wearing this.

Initial rumors stated that Google would be releasing the glasses by the end of the year for about $250 to $600.

Google released the concept video you see below showing you, just how close we are to the future. If its not already here that is.
