These pencil tip-looking things look like an abstract art installation, but they're actually really the art of science. These infinitely repeating barbs are part of the anechoic chambers at the Technical University of Denmark. They basically absorb sound and electromagnetic waves so scientists can test wave-emitting devices for things like volume and clarity.

As part of a series called SOLAR/ANECHOIC, Copenhagen-based British photographer Alastair Philip Wiper shot the resonance chambers and other research facilities. The photos were showed through the Copenhagen Photo Festival, and are meant to capture the beauty of spaces where scientists conduct research.

The movie looks like a lot of fun, especially since it features the voices of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnet, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman.

You may not know much about chemistry, but maybe this periodic table of Muppets will make sense to you. It's an incredibly organized and colorful take on the history of the Muppets which you'll appreciate.

The chart was designed by Mike BaBoon, and it's more than just Muppet abbreviations in squares - it actually has some real information in them. The background color of each Muppet element represents its skin or fur, and the border color represents their hat or hair. The color of the abbreviation text matches its nose. Each box also indicates the Muppet's year of introduction, and the primary Muppeteer.

Berlin-based designers Ying Zhang and Ida Thonsgaard created a system called Playtime, which is a collection of chairs and tables made out of thin layers of tessellated wooden triangles, backed by a textile laminate. When these pieces are unfolded, they're flat like rugs. But when you snap together the embedded system of magnets and clips, each piece transforms into a 3D side table or stool. The surfaces are covered in patterns inspired by Japanese origami and Nordic textiles.

"The furniture works almost like paper folding. When unfolded, it is flat, lightweight and easy to transport,” the duo explained to Gizmodo in an email. “You can also place the boards vertically, as wall panels."

Another version comes in the form of a rug, which you can purchase on their website by the square meter.

Not everyone can say they have a great view from their homes or offices, and even if they do have amazing views of the city or scenic landscapes, nothing can compare to the view ISS astronauts get.

This image is the view from the Cupola on the Earth-facing side of the International Space Station, timed so that our planet fills the field of view entirely. It was taken last week, and you can see the Russian Soyuz crew capsule top left, and solar array bottom right.

The view is incredibly spectacular.

All you brick geeks are going to love this piece of news because Lego is going to release an official Mars Curiosity set! The original model was designed by Stephen Pakbaz, an actual NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory mechanical engineer who worked in the mission.

Pakbaz entered his creation in Lego Cuusoo, a site that allows fans to submit models that could be turned into real sets.

Pakbaz got the necessary 10,000 votes to enter the official evaluation phase and finally got into a final selection round, which he won.

The game is packed with more than 60 crime-fighting missions which can also be played on Facebook. In time, Disney wants to expand the game to add more levels, and bring the adventure to Android.

SOLSTICE ARENA

This is a new "Speed MOBA" launched by Zynga for the iPad and iPhone. The fast-paced three-on-three fighting game is different from Zynga's other mobile games. Players must destroy their enemy's base to win the game.

PET RESCUE SAGA

Pet Rescue Saga was originally on Facebook, and it'll come to mobile this week. Players have to try to free pets that are trapped above multicolored blocks by bursting matching blocks to open a way from the bottom. If you already play the game on Facebook, it'll automatically sync with your mobile device.

THE SIMPSONS: TAPPED OUT

EA launched a new "Waterfront" update to its Simpsons: Tapped Out game this week which brings 30 new plots of land to the game as well as new decorations, buildings and quests. It also introduces new characters such as the Sea Captain and Handsome Pete.
