Thailand base Cafe Amazon created an iPhone app that monitors drivers for signs of fatigue. And when they catch them nodding off, it will direct them to the closest Cafe Amazon store for a hit. Because seriously, driving sleepy is almost the same as driving drunk.

The app will work by monitoring a driver's eyes and head motions for signs of drowsiness. It will be mounted on a vehicle's windshield with a clear view of their face. It's not convenient, but its certainly a welcome if this app saves your life.

Tatsuo Horiuchi may be 73 years old, but he sure knows how to use Excel better than you. He's a digital artist who makes large scale landscape pieces. And his delicate nature motifs are jaw dropping beautiful.

Other specialized graphic software is expensive, and Excel came pre-installed in PCs. I saw other people neatly drawing graphs, and I thought it seemed like Excel could be used to draw art.

A new program by Onformative will give us a bird's eye view of every facial landform on Earth. You know, the kind that looks like a face.

The program uses openFrameworks and Google Maps and it scans satellite image after satellite image with a facial detection algorithm to pick out any potential new geological "faces". Onformative hopes to explore this general phenomenon:

Objective investigations and subjective imagination collide to one inseparable process. The tendency to detect meaning in vague visual stimuli is a psychological phenomenon called Pareidolia, and captures the core interest of this project. We were driven by the idea, to explore how the psychological phenomenon of Pareidolia, could be generated by a machine. We wrote an algorithm simulating this tendency, as it continuously searches for face-like shapes while iterating above the landscapes of the earth.

For the application to be able to work independently, the team uses ofxBerkelium, which allows them to capture images from the virtual browser zooming around Google Maps within their own application.

On holiday right now but miss your pet so much you just got to play with it? A game of "chase the laser" with a cat is fun, because animals just don't get how that little red dot is taunting them.

To allow owners to play with their pets even when they're away, here's Petcube, a gadget currently in pre-production. The gadget will couple a Wi-Fi connected 720p camera with a laser pointer, and it can be used through a website or an app, and you can control the laser and allow anyone in the world to play with your pet.

The laser is low-intensity, so even if it's beamed directly into your pet's eyes, it won't cause any damage. You can also record especially hilarious/adorable videos and upload them directly to YouTube.

The Petcube isn't finished yet, but you can sign up and be notified when it's ready to purchase.
