Lenses inspired by Instagram. How cool would it be to have one of them attached to your DSLR? Now, that's possible. The
Lensbaby optical effects system is a set of lenses, optical swaps and accessories that allows a huge range of effects and distortions for the SLR or DSLR photographer. It was originally designed in 2008 for the creator's own experimentation, but now, they've got a full range of products that include five lens bodies that will be able to mount directly on your camera and eight optics for you to swap in and out of lenses.
Here are some of the effects: The “Composer” and “Composer Pro” lenses create selective blur good for portraits, while the “Muse” lens is actually on an accordion-like mount that the user squeezes and bends to focus. The “Control Freak” adds metal screws to the Muse design. The recently released “Scout” lens is unbending and focuses on fisheye effects.
These camera accessories allow effects only possible previously with big expensive lenses or post-production editing. Check out their entire
Lensbaby Gallery for all sorts of fun distortions people have created using combinations of lenses and optics.
