Don Petitit, an astronaut is making life on the space station more fun than on Earth. At least, he fills up his time with stuff like this, because there's definitely nothing much to do besides work up there. He recently used the station's Lego collection in experiments to generate static electricity.
He used the bricks and some high teck looking tinfoil scavenged from the station and built a functional Van der Graaf generator that is capable of generating 50,000 volts. That's not enough current to cause any damage but it's enough for a shock or two. Hit the jump to watch the video:
