We've already heard that a few prepaid carriers are going to start offering the iPhone with unlimited data with no contract and an unsubsidized phone. Just how many carriers around the world are going to adopt this? Weblog Cult of Mac crunched the numbers and found that in over two years, prepaid plans can save you a ton of money.
Take for example Virgin Mobile. They recently released its iPhone plans, which includes unlimited texting and data for $30 a month, you can get 300 minutes of talking, for $40, 1200 minutes and for $50 - unlimited minutes. The downside is that you have to buy the phone at full price. But in the course of two years, the 300 minute plan,f or example, would be able to save you over $1000.
And since we don't talk much on the phone anymore, (thanks to texting), 300 minutes might be more than enough already. So would you consider if you could go prepaid with your iPhone?
