When eating ice cream out of a large container, one would usually find ice crystals all over the top of the ice cream most of the time. This is known as freezer burn. But there are several ways to fight it. And it's also a space saving way for your freezer and how to protect your ice cream. Just trim away the container as you scoop out the ice cream so there's nowhere for the air to go.
According to America's Test Kitchen, they suggest as you scoop the ice cream out, grab a pair of scissors and cut off the top of the ice cream container so that the top is level with the amount of ice cream left. Then pop the lid back on and put it back in the freezer. The result is a less wasted space container and no freezer burned ice cream.
